AJ eBiochip GmbH was founded in
2000 as eBiochip Systems GmbH, a spin-off of the Fraunhofer
Institute for Silicon Technology (ISIT), and became a member of
the Analytik Jena Group in 2007.
AJ eBiochip develops, produces
and sells instruments and components based on electrical biochip
technology and microfluidic systems. The
proprietary
electrical detection
of biological recognition events enables the construction of integrated and
highly sensitive analytical systems for nucleic acid-based assays, immunoassays
and other binding assays.
AJ eBiochip has been granted an
exclusive licence by the Fraunhofer Society for the Society’s family
of patents on electrical biochip technology. The ISIT produces the
electrical micro arrays in Si-Technology in an industrial line
exclusively for AJ eBiochip. In R&D-activities Aj eBiochip and
ISIT are in joint collaboration with many partners from all over Europe and Germany who
use electrical biochip technology for different applications in life
sciences, clinical diagnostics and industrial markets.
